Personal Introduction CEP 811 "I ROBOT"
Hello CEP 811 class my name is Dionna Harvell [email protected], I am very excited to be jumping right into the CEP 811 after finishing or should I say coming to the home stretch of CEP 810. I have learned so many new technology downloads, upgrades, blogs, lesson plans, google doc, and the list goes on and on. I am an engineer by day and student by night, my thirst for wanting to know more technology has made sleeping almost nonexistent :) 1. My interest and hobbies are collecting Barbies when I am not thinking of new inventions that I would like to someday patent. In my spare time, I work on my event planning business, and sketch out new and exciting themes or try reinventing old themes.
Currently I do not teach, I would like to teach college freshmen, it is almost as if they are renewed and can reinvent themselves at that stage in there life. There options are endless and with the right professor they can develop to be really great professional adults. I would like to teach engineering ethics and math. Engineering ethics because so much of that has been lost in today's society and with a combination of knowing both you can write tickets in a lot of different industries. I want to teach young minds how fun math can be; I will never forget my calculus 4 teacher assignment. We had to write a paper using math equations, that was the most exciting paper/assignment I had ever done in my whole college undergrad career and I want my students to walk away with that same excitement, of knowing they learned something and is able to apply it to everyday life. Also, I would love to do online teaching and provide technology assistance to faculty. After taking the CEP 810 class, I know I am on the right track, and this program falls in line with all future plans I have in teaching new fun exciting ways of learning through technology!
I would like to teach in Michigan, and doing online teaching anywhere in the world!!! My personal goals are to find a direction for which educational sector would best benefit me and my talents. Although I am moving forward with college teaching, there is a part of me that would like to get younger students involved in technology and introduce them to all the wonderful learning tools available to them. After doing my SIG project and focusing on elementry education and teaching technology I have a soft spot for advancing young minds, because they are little sponges. You can start with a clean slate of introducing new and innovative technological ideals. I love engineering, but now I want to make a transition from corporate America. I feel my talents will be better served teaching others what I have learned in my years working in different sectors of engineering. My personal goals are to become more computer savvy, where I can teach through technology online or in the classroom. Technology is the wave of the future and this is the way students are learning, so my goal is to get up to speed with the students I will be teaching. Currently I don't have a specific educational passion that would be part of my goal to find out what works best for me in a teaching environment (instructional unit, technology, and/or instructional strategy). By the time I am done with my first semester of I will have a better direction of which teaching environment I feel will give me the most satisfaction.
The best movie title that would describe me is "I Robot"
